7GEN Clothing
Sales Rep Program - Spring 2027 Internship/Full-Time June 2027 - San Diego
Company:
7GEN Clothing is a Hawaii-born custom sports apparel company. We design and manufacture fully custom uniforms, warmups, and gear for youth volleyball organizations across Hawaii and the mainland West. Last season we worked with about 40 club programs and schools. This season we worked with roughly 95. We are a small team moving quickly, and are on track to continue to grow exponentially in coming seasons.
Our sister company, 7GEN Culture, is a separate organization built around community and sports programming. Giving back to the communities we sell into is a core facet why this company exists.
Why This Role Exists:
Demand is growing faster than we can service it. We have good clients, with more coming in, but our current team has limited bandwidth. We are not looking for someone to assist. We are looking for people we can hand real business to.
You own the client relationship start to finish. You find the club, call the director, and send samples. You run the design process with our designer, build the package, quote it, and close it. That club is your account, and next season it is still yours.
What You’ll Do:
Heading into club season, the job is outreach. Cold calls and cold emails to club directors who did not ask to hear from you. That is how you find your first accounts, and how everyone here started, including the people running the company.
We train you, give you the scripts, give you systems, and break down your calls with you. As the season moves the mix shifts: less prospecting, more running the accounts you closed. Design rounds, sizing, order details, delivery timelines, and the follow-up that brings a club back next year.
Your first season and first summer are fully in person in San Diego. Not hybrid. You learn this job sitting next to people doing it. Once a book is established, there is room for greater flexibility. You will hear no more often than yes. The upside is real, and so is the work that gets you there.
How it Works:
Spring 2027 (January to May): Paid internship, about 5-10 hours a week while you finish school. An email address, access to our systems, and real clients. Learn the product, sit in on meetings, start making calls. $200 biweekly plus commission on anything you close.
June 2027 onward: Full-time sales rep, based in our San Diego office. The internship is how both sides decide. You find out whether this work is for you, we find out how you operate, and full time offers go out in the spring prior to graduation. Not limited to spring 2027 graduates. If you're graduating in 2028 and can be in San Diego full-time next summer, email me.
Compensation & Growth:
Base and commission: $24,000 a year starting at graduation, plus 20% of gross profit on everything you close. Flat rate, no tiers, no cap.
Year one expectations: (June - December, 2026) Roughly $35,000 to $45,000, built by what you close cold in a half season, plus select account handoffs
Year two expectations: (January - December, 2027) $75,000 to $85,000+, cold outreach plus accounts handed over from the existing team, earned by reps who prove they take care of a client. Year three, six figures is realistic.
Transpacific Volleyball Championships:
Everyone we bring on for an internship commitment gets flown to Honolulu with the team for the Trans Pacific Volleyball Championships in January, run by 7GEN Culture. Hundreds of club teams, a portion of our clients, and the full 7GEN crew in one place. It is where the season starts. Attendance at this event is a key facet of understanding who we are.
Who Does Well Here:
No hard skills required. What matters:
Communication and personability. You are comfortable talking to professionals you have never met. Clients buy from people they like.
Organization and attention to detail. A wrong size or color on 300 custom pieces is expensive, and can damage relationships and trust.
Proactivity. You chase timelines and set them intentionally for our busy clientele.
Customer-facing work translates directly. Restaurants, retail, anything where you hustled and talked to people all day.
Nice-to-haves: Comfort with digital tools and AI, an athletic background of any kind (if you know volleyball that’s great, but is not a must).
After a year: you support yourself in San Diego on your own earnings, you manage your own book of business, and you run real transactions with real clients in a growing industry and organization.
How to Apply:
Email your resume to jackson@7genclothing.com, plus the answer to one question in the email: what is the worst customer interaction you have ever had, and what did you do about it? Interviews run through November, offers go out before the holidays.
Please let us know if you apply to any internships so we can work with you and follow up with the companies (You can even cc us on your email at lmumatch@lmu.edu!)
